JR. High track meet scheduled for Thursday 4/11 in Sisseton has been CANCELLED.

Prom meeting on Thursday, at lunch on the stage.

Due to the forecasted winter storm later in the week, the FCCLA Banquet will be TODAY, Tuesday, April 9 at 6:00pmnot Wednesday at 5:30!  Please pass the change on your guests and no need to RSVP!

Aberdeen Hunter Safe Course will be presented in April, May, and August by members of the Sportsman’s Club of Brown County in Cooperation with the SD Game, Fish and Parks Hunt Safe Program.  It is open to anyone 12 years of age or older, and to 11 year olds who will be turning 12 before December 31, 2019.  More information is available in the office.

Students planning to participate in South Dakota Clay Target League must have completed a new document regarding the Weapons in Schools policy prior to participation.  These forms are available in the HS Office.

Grades 11-12:   Reminder of things to do for the ACT Test on Saturday, April 13, 2019 in Aberdeen or Groton.   Bring your admission ticket and a driver’s license (photo ID), 2 calculators, pencils with erasers, a watch, and possibly a water bottle.  Be sure and show up at the testing location at least 15 minutes early (7:45).  It might be a good idea to review last minute formulas and rules.  No caps are to be worn during testing.  No beverage will be allowed in the testing area.  No cell phones are to be used at any time during test (including the break). Testing should conclude around noon.  Those who are taking the writing assessment should be done by 12:45 p.m.  Be sure and do the practice test prior to the test.  Stop by the School Counseling Office if you need an extra copy.

Prom/Post Prom forms are on the counter in the MS/HS Office, and are also in the Library.  Students will be signed up for Grand March in the order of completed and signed forms, with attached post prom dues being turned in. Please return all completed and signed forms to Mrs. Sombke in the office.

Dress Code Reminder:

Students:  As the weather becomes nice, and the temperatures begin to rise, please be mindful of the clothing that you choose to wear to school each day.  Please remember that the Dress Code found in your student handbook clearly states:  “Clothing that is too revealing or distracting is not appropriate and should not be worn during school or at school functions.  This includes but is not limited to tanks tops, shirts, jeans, shorts, and dresses.  Shirts/dresses with spaghetti straps or only one strap are not allowed.  Bare skin should not be visible between the bottom of the shirt and the top of the pant/shorts.  As a general rule, if in doubt, it’s probably not appropriate.”  2018-2019 Groton Area Student Handbook, found under Letter Z.  “Dress Code”.  Please see Mrs. Sombke if you have questions, thank you!

There will be a lifeguard meeting on Monday, April 8 at 5:00 in the Library. Please bring any known time-off dates with you! If you are not able to be there, please contact Kami this week.

 

Mandatory meeting for the Groton Clay Target Team on Thursday, April 4 at 6:00 p.m. at the Groton Community Center.

Students planning to participate in South Dakota Clay Target League must have completed a new document regarding the Weapons in Schools policy prior to participation.  These forms are available in the HS Office.

The April FCCLA Meeting will be on Tuesday, April 2 during lunch in the FACS room.

Congratulations to the DI teams that participated at state this weekend. Groton was very well represented. Two teams – the HS team – Orgnaized Chaos and the MS team – Awesomesauce Dumplings placed 3rd and the Elementary Team – The Crazy Medical Crew – placed 4th.

Please join the Emmanuel Lutheran/Community Choir on Sunday April 14th at 4:00pm for an Easter Cantata, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Groton.  Free Will offering with proceeds directed to Becky Diegel and Hunter Schaller.

Junior high track practice for both boys and girls will start on Tuesday, April 2nd at 3:30 in the old gym.
