After the Homecoming parade next Friday, there will be a “Beat Up Cancer” fundraiser taking place near the football field. There will be an old van to be demolished, with proceeds going to the Diegel family.
One hit is $1 and 3 hits is $2. This fundraiser is sponsored by the Class of 2019.
Emmanuel Lutheran and Methodist youth group will meet this Wednesday the 19th at 7:00.

Sophomores and Seniors: The Jostens Representative will be here to meet with the Sophomore Class and the Senior Class on September 27th during 5th hour.
There will be a drama club meeting at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 18 in the band room for anyone interested in participating in this year’s One-Act play and/or the All-School play. Anyone in grades 6-12 are welcome!
There will be an FFA meeting on Friday during HS Lunch in Mr. Franken’s room. Pizza will be served for $1.50/slice. Bring your own drinks.
Students please do not walk between buses at any time as you are leaving school. Walking between buses is very dangerous as the driver may not be able to see you, and you may not be able to see cars that are coming from either direction. Please stay back away from the edge of the sidewalk until the bus has come to a complete stop before walking up to the bus.
Students and Staff: At the end of the school day, when the school buses are parked along the south side of the school building please do not use that street as you leave the school parking lot or staff parking areas. Thank you for helping get all of our students home safe and sound at the end of each day!

Grades 9-12 Scrubs Camp – Held on October 9, 2018 at Presentation College. Learn about health care careers possibly including psychologist, EMT/fire rescue, medical assisting, chiropractor, pharmacy, physical therapy and wound care. Huron also has a camp in October. Grades 11-12: US Senate Youth Competition and Scholarship competition: Opportunity to win a free trip to Washington, DC for two SD students. GHS will select two students to take the test and send the results to the state. Only students who hold an elected or appointed office in student government, civic or educational organizations can apply. Test covers government and history. Stop by my office if you are interested. Deadline Monday, 9/17/18 – today!
Grade 12 Questbridge National College Match: www.questbridge.org High achieving seniors (ACT >28), income qualifying (typically $65,000 per family of 4 with limited assets). Links students to Ivy League schools and prestigious schools. Due Sept. 27, 2018.
Grades 11-12 ACT: Registration for the October 27 test is due online by Sept. 28. Register atwww.actstudent.org and pay with a credit card. You will test in Aberdeen or Grotonbut be sure to list Groton as your home school. Remember you must upload a photo to register and then print the admission ticket. Fee waivers are available – stop by the GO. Other test dates are: December, February, April, June and July. See Mrs. Sternhagen if you have questions.
