CONGRATULATIONS to the following students for being selected into the 2018 Region Honor Band.

Clarinet: Kylie Kassube (1st chair), Percussion: Emily Thompson (1st chair), Bass Clarinet: Rease Jandel (1st chair), French Horn: Ashley Garduno, Alto Sax: Stella Meier, Bari Sax: Samantha Pappas, and Tuba: Braden Freeman.

Anyone in grades 7-12 interested in participating in this year’s One Act Play, auditions will be held in the music room on Tuesday, November 20 at 3:30 p.m.   If you are unable to attend, see Mr. Fordham to make other arrangements.  You do not need to be in drama club to audition.  Anyone interested in working Tech, please sign-up with Mr. Fordham anytime.

Grades 6-12:   Just a reminder that Family Night is set for tonight, Monday, November 19thfrom 5-7 pm.    This year we have many college representatives and groups coming to GHS to speak with you and your parents – please come and talk with them!!  Additionally, you will be able to visit teachers, eat lunch, and get bonus points this year.   Here is the list of different colleges and organizations that will be at GHS:  Presentation College, Lake Area Tech, Mitchell Tech, North Dakota State College of Science (Wahpeton), University of South Dakota, South Dakota State University, University of Jamestown, Northern State University, University of Sioux Falls, Mount Marty, SE Tech, and the National Guard.

Grades 11-12:  Dual Credit registration form (signed by you and by your parent) should be turned in to Mrs. Wattier by Wednesday, November 8th.

Help a child this Christmas receive a gift that wouldn’t otherwise get one.  Join with the Groton FFA chapter as we partner with Operation Christmas Child to provide joy to children living in need.  The mission is simple: grab a shoebox and a packaging tag (must be a medium size box, if you need one, you can see Mr. Franken) and follow the instructions on the tag to fill the box with toys, hygiene items and school supplies for children.  There are some specific rules on what you can and cannot pack in the box that will be on the packaging tag.  Make sure to attach the label to the box before you drop it off.  If you have questions, please see Mr. Franken.  The boxes need to be packed and dropped off in the ag room by Friday, November 16.  You can pick up shoe boxes and packaging instructions in the ag room or in the office.

Stop in to the school store and help kids in need! In the month of November, proceeds from the school store will go to buy gifts for kids in need from the Angel Tree. Stop in to Miss Wilkinson’s room to see what goodies we have!

Grade 12:  Financial Aid Information– Reminder to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form (www.fafsa.gov).  You will need your computer, the FSA ID, and your 2017 tax information to start the process.  File as soon as possible!  The priority deadline for Black Hills State is December 1!  University of Sioux Falls is Jan. 1 and a lot of schools are March 1.  All students received financial aid packets during English 12.
