Student Bulletin

Student Council: Student Council will meet today during lunch hour in the office conference room.  Please see Mrs. Sombke if you will be unable to attend.

 

 

Class Meetings:  Classes will meet tomorrow for class meetings at the beginning of 5th hour.  Students, please go to your 5th hour class for attendance.  Students will be dismissed by intercom to go to their class  meetings.  Classes will be dismissed back to class at 1:00pm by intercom.  Class Meeting Locations:

After the Homecoming parade next Friday, there will be a “Beat Up Cancer” fundraiser taking place near the football field.  There will be an old van to be demolished, with proceeds going to the Diegel family.

One hit is $1 and 3 hits is $2.  This fundraiser is sponsored by the Class of 2019.

 

Emmanuel Lutheran and Methodist youth group will meet this Wednesday the 19th at 7:00.

Bus safety: 

Students please do not walk between buses at any time as you are leaving school.  Walking between buses is very dangerous as the driver may not be able to see you, and you may not be able to see cars that are coming from either direction.  Please stay back away from the edge of the sidewalk until the bus has come to a complete stop before walking up to the bus.

Students and Staff: At the end of  the school day, when the school buses are parked along the south side of the school building please do not use that street as you leave the school parking lot or staff parking areas.  Thank you for helping get all of our students home safe and sound at the end of each day!

Homecoming Royalty Candidates:  there will be a Homecoming supper at the home of Steve and Ann Gibbs on Sunday, September 23rd at 6:30.  Hope to see all of you there.

Grades 11-12:  US Senate Youth Competition and Scholarship competition:  Opportunity to win a free trip to Washington, DC for two SD students.  GHS will select two students to take the test and send the results to the state.   Only students who hold an elected or appointed office in student government, civic or educational organizations can apply.  Test covers government and history.  Stop by my office if you are interested.  Deadline Monday, 9/17/18 – today!

 

Grade 12 Questbridge National College Match:  www.questbridge.org  High achieving seniors (ACT >28), income qualifying (typically $65,000 per family of 4 with limited assets).  Links students to Ivy League schools and prestigious schools.  Due Sept. 27, 2018.

Grades 11-12  ACT:  Registration for the October 27 test is due online by Sept. 28.  Register atwww.actstudent.org   and pay with a credit card.  You will test in Aberdeen or Grotonbut be sure to list Groton as your home school.  Remember you must upload a photo to register and then print the admission ticket.  Fee waivers are available – stop by the GO.  Other test dates are: December, February, April, June and July.   See Mrs. Sternhagen if you have questions.

Homecoming Royalty Candidates:  there will be a Homecoming supper at the home of Steve and Ann Gibbs on Sunday, September 23rd at 6:30.  Hope to see all of you there.
