Mrs. Tietz’s 4th hour study hall will be meeting in her classroom today.
The October FCCLA Meeting will be on Friday, Oct. 4 during lunch.  New members are still welcome to join!  Lunch will be served!
The Groton Area Snow Queen Committee would like to invite all interested freshman and senior girls to attend an informational meeting on Wednesday, October 2nd at 3pm in the Library Conference room.  We encourage any girls considering competing in this year’s Snow Queen Competition for the Junior of Senior title to attend this meeting.  We will hand out the application packets and provide info on the event.  This year’s snow queen pageant will be held Sunday, November 17th.
Any high school students interested in volunteering for the Area or State Special Olympics bowling tournaments please see Mrs. Hill (Rm.208) for a form and/or information.  The tournaments are October 18th and November 8th.  It is a very rewarding experience and we you even get a free t-shirt!

Tomorrow the Aberdeen PD will be here at 9:20 to talk about their explorer program. If you are 16 and thinking about going into law enforcement, this program would be a great match for you! Several students still have not paid their class due.  Dues must be paid for you to participate in Homecoming activities!
Homecoming week REMINDERS for students:
* NO DRIVING AT ANY TIME DURING HOMECOMING WEEK
* NO initiation, hazing, or bullying activities
* Proper Conduct as school representatives: All students who are given the honor of being allowed to be a visitor at the Groton Elementary School during lunch times and at the St. Johns Preschool during Homecoming week are asked to remember to conduct themselves as ladies and gentlemen. As representatives of our senior class royalty and our varsity sports teams, it is expected that all rules regarding driving, cell phones, attendance, and eligibility are upheld at all times while traveling to and being in attendance at both the elementary school and the preschool. Please see Mrs. Sombke with questions.
Attention Students:  Please be reminded of the following policy this homecoming week:
Hazing activities of any type are inconsistent with the educational process and will be prohibited at all times.  Hazing is defined as follows: Doing any act or coercing another, including the victim, to do any act of initiation into any student or other organization that causes or creates a substantial risk of causing mental or physical harm to any person.  Permission, consent, or assumption of risk by an individual subject to hazing does not lessen the prohibition contained in the policy.  Appropriate disciplinary action will follow and may be reported to law enforcement.
Reminder – Students leaving for homecoming activities MUST check in and out of the office.
Homecoming Dress-up Days
Friday September 20- SPIRIT DAY
Congrats to our Homecoming Royalty – Anthony Schinkel and Eliza Wanner! We had an awesome Royal Court!
FCCLA will be selling temporary tattoos and eyeblacks at lunch during Homecoming week or they can be purchased from Mrs. Tietz.
FCCLA will be sponsoring a Kiss the Pig and Goat contest again this year at the elementary school.  All proceeds will be going to the family of Anna Fliehs, a local 3 year old who is battling leukemia.  If you would like to donate, jars will be available during Homecoming week, not only at the elementary school, but at the vet clinic!
If you did not order a homecoming t-Shirt and are interested in one, please contact Mrs. Schwan.  There are a few extras left!
