Marching Band Festival:  Students will be dismissed for the marching band festival at 9:45.  Students will BE REQUIRED to walk with/sit with/return with their class and classroom teacher.  Students are not allowed to go to their vehicles on the way to the parade, so please bring your coats, hats, gloves, and blankets with you in the morning when you come to school.  Students will return to the class they left from to be dismissed either to lunch or to their next class, depending on what time it is upon returning.  Teachers will take attendance upon returning to the school building/classroom, before students are either dismissed to their next class or to lunch.

5th Hour Choir Students: Friday, October 12th the 5th hour choir students will meet in the Library Conference Room for study hall.

Picture day is Thursday, October 18.

Grades 9-12:  Nurse For A Day at Presentation College on either November 2 from 10 – 2 or February 15.    Observe and take part in Avera Simulation Center demonstrations, practice injections and taking vitals, visit with a panel of Presentation College faculty and students, and more. Grades 9-12:  Ready SET-Go! One Day (Saturday, Nov. 3 from 9-5) workshop for high school girls (Science, Engineering, and Technology.) Remind your parents Parent/Teacher Conferences are today.  They will run from 1:30 – 8:30 in the HS gym.

Student flu shot consent forms are on the counter in the office.   Shots will be given from 11:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. at the elementary.  To get the flu shot you will need to complete a consent form and have a copy of your medical card.

Grades 10-11: PSAT test is tomorrow, Wednesday, October 10th Periods 1-4 in Ms. Seeklander’s room (grade 10) and Room 304 (grade 11)  Make every effort to be present – the test can not be given at any other time.  Please bring a calculator and pencils.  Do not bring your cell phone (or you can put it in a box up front).  Go to the bathroom before the test begins.  Reminder that there are two math sections – one without a calculator  – and that there are math questions that must be gridded.  Please do the practice test!  More detailed information has been discussed in English class and has been emailed to you.

Any senior interested in having an extracurricular photo banner made – there will be a session October 2nd, today, at Jamie Simon’s Studio from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.   Cost is $40.

Student flu shot consent forms are on the counter in the office.  Shots will be given on Thursday, October 11 (Parent/Teacher Conference day) from 11:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.   Return the completed consent form and copy of insurance card to the school by Thursday, October 4.

Volleyball Parents Night will be Thursday, October 4.  All Varsity, JV, C-team and stats need to pay $2 to Mrs. Hoffman by Thursday.

MathCounts practice at 7:45 a.m. in Ms. Berner’s classroom on Wednesday.

A big thanks to the student body for your support of the Bash the Car fundraiser Friday afternoon. You all helped raise over one thousand dollars for Becky Diegel! It’s that kind of support that makes our school and community special.

 

FBLA meeting Thursday, October 4th at 8:00 AM in Mrs. Compton’s room.  Breakfast will be served and new members are welcome!

There will be a Groton Snow Queen meeting on Oct. 3 @3:00 in the library for all Freshman and Senior girls.

 

The October FCCLA meeting will be on Tuesday, Oct. 2 during lunch in the FACS room.  Lunch will be served and new members are welcome to join!!!

 

Grade 11:  Post High Planning Days Visit – Thursday, October 4, 2018.  Wear business appropriate clothing – we will be meeting with many businesses and colleges –  no hats, chains, flip flops.  Bring your registration barcode ticket to Mrs. Sternhagen if you have not done so.   Tentative schedule:

9:15 – 10:30    College and Business Expo

10:45 – 11:15  National Guard Armory Visit

11:45 – 12:00  Return to 4th hour class at GHS

Grades 10-11 and Teachers:  Students who paid to take the PSAT will meet in the Conference Room to fill in the name/address information prior to taking the test.  All students will test periods 1-4 on Wednesday, October 10th.
