Student Bulletin – Friday, 5/18/18

The following students will be dismissed at 12:50pm to help with 5th grade orientation on Wednesday, May 23: Travis Townsend, Cassie Schultz, Rease Jandel, Brooklyn Imrie, River Pardick, Allyssa Locke, Kansas Kroll. Please come to Ms. Seeklander’s room.

There will be a short cross country meeting after school on Tuesday in the old gym for anyone interested in being on the team next school year.

Summer Lesson forms for band are due back to Mrs. Yeigh or Mr. Fordham by this Friday.

There will be a color guard meeting for any current high school girls interested in being on the color guard team for the 2018-19 school year. The meeting will be held on the stage next Wednesday (May 23rd) during lunch. Please see Mrs. Yeigh with any questions or if you are unable to attend.

The library will be closing May 18.  All library books are due on or before May 18.  After this date fines will be applied to overdue books.  Thank you

FBLA meeting Tuesday, May 22nd during lunch in Ms. Lingbeck’s room.  Lunch will be served.

Show Choir auditions are on Monday, May 21. Please see Mr. Swanson for music and other information.

Cast and crew of footloose, please pick up all of your personal items—costumes and props—before Friday. After Friday, they will be in the office Lost and Found. 

All-School play cast–Please return your play books to Mrs. Morehouse by Friday, May 18th.  They must be free from any damage, tape, pencil marks, etc.  If you don’t return a book or if your book is damaged, you will be charged accordingly.

Cheerleading try-outs will be on Friday, May 18 after school in the arena lobby.  There is a sign-up sheet on the counter in the office.

Grade 11:  If you are taking Dual Credit in Fall 2018, please see Mrs. Sternhagen for your Smarter Balanced scores Friday afternoon or Monday.

Grades 10-11:  Reminder that all Fall Dual Credit course registrations must be turned in to the office by next Friday.  Please look at your email PowerPoint on Dual Credit.  If you did not attend the mandatory meeting, please see Mrs. Sternhagen.

Grade 8-11:  Class changes for fall 2018 can be made with Mrs. Sternhagen on Thursday and Friday, May 24-25.

Principal’s Honor Roll:  On Tuesday, May 22nd, the 6th and 8th grade Principal’s Honor Rollrecipients will have a pizza lunch in the Arena Lobby.  Congratulations to all!

Twenty-one sixth graders in the Class of 2024 have been selected for the Principal’s Middle School 6th Grade Honor Roll at Groton Area High School.   To be eligible for this award, the sixth graders had to be on the honor roll at Groton Area High School every quarter for one year.  This year’s sixth graders on the Principal’s Honor Roll are:  Dillon Abeln, Bradin Althoff, Anna Bisbee, Emily Clark, Colby Dunker, Kyleigh Englund, Faith Fliehs, Anna Fjeldheim, Carly Guthmiller, Claire Heinrich, Karsyn Jangula, Jaycie Lier, Lydia Meier, Sara Menzia, Hannah Monson, Lexi Osterman, Emma Schinkel, Holden Sippel, Ashlyn Sperry, Lane Tietz, Bryson Wambach

Eighteen eighth graders in the Class of 2022 have been selected for the Principal’s Middle School 8th Grade Honor Roll at Groton Area High School.   To be eligible for this award, the eighth graders had to be on the honor roll at Groton Area High School every quarter for two years.  This year’s eighth graders on the Principal’s Honor Roll are:  Kennedy Anderson, Jordan Bjerke, Madisen Bjerke, Jackson Cogley, Madeline Fliehs, Megan Fliehs, Hannah Gustafson, Rease Jandel, Seth Johnson, Trista Keith, Pierce Kettering, Julianna Kosel, Kansas Kroll, Lane Krueger, Kaden Kurtz, Allyssa Locke, Stella Meier, Travis Townsend.

Student of the Month:  On Tuesday, May 22nd, the 6-8 Students of the Month will go to the DQ for a treat at 1:45 pm.  The Students of the Month in grades 9-11 will go around 2:10.  All students will be dismissed by the office.

Students:

Please be advised that care needs to be taken in choosing what to wear to school.  To review our school dress code policy, please refer to your student handbook, located in the front of your agenda.  Students whose clothing is in question will be sent to the office.  Please see Mrs. Sombke should you have any questions regarding our school dress code policy.

The dates for computer check-in are as follows:

Juniors = May 21st

6th Grade = May 17th will be the last day to check out computers

7th & 8th Grades = May 18th will be the last day to check out computers

The Groton Area School District is seeking applicants for summer custodial work.  Applicants must be 16 years of age or older.  Applications are available in the school office.
