Student Bulletin – Thursday, 11/30/17

Play practice tonight at 3:45 for those with “student” roles.  Tomorrow we will meet from 3:45-5:00 as a full cast.

HS Music Students– reminder that cookie dough will be delivered today. You are responsible for picking up and delivering your order.

Jostens will be at school on Thursday, November 30 to visit with seniors and sophomores.  They will meet with seniors at 12:43 in the library conference room for about 15 minutes.   Sophomores will be called by intercom for their 15 minute meeting.

There will be a prom committee meeting in the FACS room during lunch on Thursday, December 7.

Grades 6-12:  Quarter 1 Honor Roll is posted outside Mrs. Sternhagen’s School Counseling Office.  Congratulations to all who made the Honor Roll!!

Grade 11:  Reminder of the Practice ACT Test on Tuesday, December 5th in the morning. Students will report to the conference room for attendance and lunch count.  Testing will conclude 4th hour.  Please bring a calculator and a pencil. 

Grades 11-12:  Mandatory Dual Credit Meeting was held on Thursday, November 16th.  If you are planning to take Dual Credit courses next spring and did not attend the meeting you must see Mrs. Sternhagen to go over the information that was presented.  Forms are available in the office and must be turned into the office by Friday, Dec. 1.

Grade 12:  Financial Aid Information– Reminder to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.  You will need your computer, the FSA ID, and your 2016 tax information to start the process.  File as soon as possible!  The priority deadline for Black Hills State is December 1!  University of Sioux Falls is Jan. 1 and a lot of schools are March 1.

Students and Staff: Tuesday, November 28th, the Northern State University Choir will be coming to perform for our school on their “Christmas Tour”.  Students will report to their first hour class to have lunch count and attendance taken, and will be dismissed by intercom.  Students will sit with their class, and their classroom teacher.

MathCounts meets Tuesday morning at 7:45 a.m. in Mrs. Johnson’s room #226.

Congratulations to Alex Stange for being chosen as the 2017 GHS Prudential Spirit of Community Award winner. Alex’s application was selected based on her involvement in the community and her service.  Her application will now advance as Groton’s nominee for the Prudential Spirit of Community scholarship.

Grades 11 – 12:  Just a reminder of the free ACT practice program – SDMyLife offers a free online ACT test prep for all SD students. Students can login to their SDMyLife account and click go to ACT Test Prep in the bottom of the left hand column under the Method Test Prep logo. Method Test Prep offers 2 full length exams, practice test and quizzes and vocabulary. All questions have audio, visual and written explanations.  All seniors were shown this program last December in English class.  Juniors can start looking at the program now, too.  Also, Mrs. Sternhagen has many practice ACT books to checkout.  Please stop by the School Counseling office!
